Our Role in the Import Process

• Customs Brokerage: We handle customs clearance for imports, exports, and transit.
• VAT and Duty: Although clients are responsible for settling VAT and import duty, we guide them through all complexities according to their agreement or INCOTERMS conditions.
• Broker Coordination: We coordinate with the UK broker to smooth the import process. InstaCarrier facilitates communication and documentation handling.

The Import Clearance Process

1. Document Submission: The process starts with the submission of the EX document. Upon receiving the EX document, we send the necessary import documents to the UK broker.
2. VAT and Duty Information: We collect the required information for the VAT and duty payer.
3. POA and Payment: The broker obtains a Power of Attorney (POA) from the VAT and duty payer and establishes payment terms.
4. Customs Registration: With the steps above completed, the broker registers the import, leading to the issuance of an import document or MRN code.
5. Import Document or MRN: The result may be an import document or an MRN code.
6. GMR Creation: InstaCarrier creates a GMR (Goods Movement Reference) from the MRN code.
7. Ferry Boarding: With the GMR the vehicle can board the ferry or Eurotunnel.
8. Border Inspection: During the journey, the driver may be subject to customs inspection at Dover or Ashford.
